Google+ Another Social Networking Site, Is it a Facebook Killer?

Posted on by Lisa

We have Facebook, Twitter, and now Google+, what now? I must say when I got my secret invite to join Google+ I was “What, another social networking site,” I’m not sure if I have time for another one. But more than 18 million+, according to Google, have joined. Google+ provides you with “Circles” a way to categorize your Friends, shear pictures easily with Google’s Picasa, “Sparks” for info you maybe interested in, “Hangouts” for video Chats, and other useful sharing tools.

I created my account but have not checked it in months, apart of me don’t want to commit to another social networking site. I do think it would be good for business contacts but I already got LinkedIn. I do like the fact that “Circles” allows you to separate your friends in groups like friends, close friends, business, & family and you can post separate post to each group.

So will everyone get on board like they did Facebook and is this a Facebook killer? Only time will tell. Facebook is no dummy, they are looking at Google+ and creating their own variation of “Circles” so members can categorize their Friends, their calling it “Smart Lists: Work, School, Family, and City categories”. Unlike MySpace, who made a huge mistake not seeing Facebook as a competitor, Facebook is looking at Google+ as a competitor and making changes as needed to their functionality so they can stay on top of the game.

I think Google+ will mean big business for web-marketing tools like its AdWords and other Google online tools when it’s integrated into Google+. A one-stop-shop for your Google application needs, that means better email and app use within Google+. This could mean big trouble for Facebook. We shall see!
